What is the symbolism in the story of "The Flowers" by Alice Walker?

In the story, The Flowers, by Alice Walker, there are a few different symbols. The first is the flowers, which represent innocence and life. The second symbol is the dead man, who represents death, and the third symbol, is that of the rope that was used to kill the dead man...... a symbol of evil.
