James Monroe, the future fifth president of the United States of America, is an early opponent of Hamilton, based on his views about Hamilton’s affair, his policies, and his handling of the central bank. It is Monroe, who is wrongly blamed by Hamilton for the revelation of Hamilton’s affair.
