Why is Hitler's persecution of Einstein as a Jew ironic? Explain.

Though born Jewish, racially Jewish, and a supporter of Jewish efforts, Einstein never is particularly active in his faith. He prefers to think that human kindness and service are far more important than any one religion, and that being a good person is not limited to a specific faith. He is, for all intents and purposes, not a very good Jew.
