Why do some Berlin scientists imply that Einstein is a traitor to his country?

Einstein visits England and France, and is known to be friendly with scientists from those countries as well as from other countries around the world. Since England and France oppose Germany during World War I, of which memories are still quite fresh, some of his peers in Berlin feel he is fraternizing with the enemy.
