Einstein is shocked at how lavish his quarters are and is ready to demand simpler accommodations before his wife points out that the request hurts the captain's feelings. Clearly, though world famous and reasonably wealthy, Einstein never learns to live the position his fame grants him; he is still a simple man with little care for material goods.
