Many write to Einstein to beg for aid in obtaining a visa for America, and he helps as many as he can. He writes to a hospital and gives them recommendations for a new X-ray physicist, but instead of recommending one physicist, he recommends four; he cannot refuse help to any of the four who ask, so he lets the hospital make the decision.
