What happens at Dan's office?

Dan explains a carload of armed addicts came looking for drugs. When his partner refused they beat him up, took or smashed all the drugs and ransacked the place. A woman hears the noise and notifies the police who race over with lights and siren. They arrive to a gunfight. Both the Chief and his assistant are shot and die.
