What is the Afternoon of the Elves?

I'm not sure what you mean. In the novel, Sara-Kate, befriended by Hillary, shows Hillary the little elf village she's built in her yard. The girls are enchanted by the village and make-believe they are caring for the elves.... it's a childish fancy..... or is it?
