The character of Snow White is alluded to throughout the novel as a symbol of perfect female beauty free of any personality or character. Eri is described as Snow White several times, but Takahashi is the one who points out that everyone put pressure on Eri to be Snow White while she was awake, which gave her a lot of interior mental problems and stunted the development of her self.
