The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn

in Huckleberry Finn, At the beginning Tom tells huck that if he goes back home he can be in the band of robbers. Is this offer generous,reasonable,ironic,equitable or devious? I am totally confused!!!

In my opinion it is an ironic statement, since Huckleberry has been a real robber, and his own father, Pap, is one, too.
