What is the importance of Linda's family vacation in Nyon in the novel, Adultery?

Nyon is the place where Linda's husband takes her, with the children, in order to help her feel better. He encourages her to jog and thinks that the trip does her good, not realizing that it has only made her realize what she thinks is wrong with her life.
