What does the character, Frankenstein, represent in the novel, Adultery?

Frankenstein symbolizes the monster that Linda creates in her search to overcome her depression and boredom with life. This monster threatens to ruin lives as does Frankenstein and in the end, it is killed, as is Frankenstein.
