Who is Menton FitzMaurice from the novel, Actress?

Menton is Norah's grandfather, and Katherine's father. He is described as a somewhat mediocre actor who only learns his lines and not the script in its entirety. It is through his involvement with Anew's acting troupe that Katherine is introduced to stage playing.
