Across Five Aprils
What does Shad think of General McClellan? How does this differ from his comrades?
This is a question for chapter 8.
This is a question for chapter 8.
Shad's comrades worship McClellan, and they stand up and cheer when he passes.... even injured men get up and cheer. They are devoted to him.
Shad, on the other hand, does not stand up and cheer, and although, he doesn't dislike him, he is unsure of him. He believes that McClellan is brave and devoted, but he also perceives that the General is afraid of something....afraid of making a mistake that will send his men to their deaths.
