Who is Alex in the book, Abundance: A Novel?

Alex is the woman at Horizon Lines who interviews Henry. She is a kind woman, whose easy manner puts Henry at easy. During the interview, she tells Henry about the company's endeavors to help ex-cons reintegrate into society. As an ex-con herself, she understands the complications of this philosophy and its language. Henry is particularly drawn to Alex because she seems authentic and empathetic. She is one of the first people who seems to actively listen to and understand his story.
