How does Parker help Maybe during her period of homelessness in the novel, Absolutely Maybe?

Parker, the dorm security guard, knows Maybe isn't a student. He allows her to stay in the lounge, however, until thefts start happening in the dorms. When security cracks down, Parker gives Maybe some money but tells her she has to find another place to stay. One of the first people Maybe pays back with the money she earns from the taco truck is Parker.
