What are the motifs in About a Boy by Nick Hornby?

Lies and Deception are a recurring idea in the story. Will tells lies to get the type of women he wants. In fact, Will goes so far as to invent a two-year-old son for himself. This leads to a date with Suzie, Fiona's good friend, and to Will meeting Marcus. However, it was gained by lies and when Suzie learns the truth, she tells him how much like her lying and deceptive husband he truly is. It turns out that Will is not much better than all the men who cheated on and left their wives alone with children.
