Amit is portrayed, throughout the few points at which she is referenced, as the author's best friend and confidante. She listens with empathy and compassion to what the author portrays as her constant venting of concern over the relationship with Amaia, but eventually has enough, telling the author that there has been (and is) too much drama in the relationship for them to remain friends. Amit's departure from their relationship is a trigger for the author to consider how much of herself and her life she is turning over to her relationship with Amaia.
