Paris is symbolic of transformation and renewal. After Eddy's mother leaves her second husband, she moves to Paris to be with her new partner. Eddy also resides in this location. The city opens both individuals to new possibilities and futures. The city is thus representative of the transformations they have created for themselves, and the new lives they are therefore able to pursue.
