How does Wander's mother refer to the mountains in the novel, A Wolf Called Wander?

Wander's mother refers to the mountains as home by often repeating the mantra that they belong to the mountains and the mountains belong to their wolf pack. Wander, however, is chased away from his home when a rival pack attacks, killing Father and Growl and scattering the rest of the pack. While Wander travels the prairie, he often looks longingly toward the mountains. However, since his pack is no longer functioning, he feels it is not really his home.
