What happens when Ellen first arrives at Jake's office on the Sunday the National Guard arrives?

The Sunday that the National Guard arrives, Jake advises her of the military activity that had taken place all day. He then advises her that he would have to put in another request for change of venue as a result. Further, he would have it noted in the court record that the trial was being run in a "three-ring circus."
