What did Tree ear do or say about foxes in his encounter with them?

Both Tree-ear and Crane-man allow their fear of foxes to inhibit them. Later, on p.115, Tree-ear comes to the realisation that ‘we are afraid of the things we do not know – just because we do not know them’.
