What mode of action does Hank begin to question in Chapter Nine at night?

In the middle of the night, Hank briefly realizes that the simplest action for him now would be to take the money and leave everything - including Sarah and Amanda - behind. Later that night Hank tells Sarah that he should just have turned the money in when he found it, and Sarah says that it's much too late.
