How does Hank attempt to trick Agent Baxter in Chapter Ten? What happens?

On a hunch he yells, "Hey, Vernon," but he can't really decide whether Baxter turns at the sound of the name. At his office, Hank calls Sarah who has been on the phone with the FBI to check for Agent Baxter. She tells Hank now that the FBI says that Neal Baxter is "in the field."
