Why does Félicité offer the parrot for the altar in the Corpus Christi celebration?

Félicité clearly wants to offer something valuable to the Corpus Christi altar, but has nothing of any objective value to offer. However, the parrot has become associated in her mind with the Holy Spirit and is therefore of extreme subjective value to her. When she offers this gift to the altar, it is as though she is offering her nearest connection with the divine and thus the most spiritually valuable thing that she has in her possession.
