What is the story of Cleopatra's birth?

Cleopatra's parents, Captain and Lucretia Meador, were in Cuba when her mother was pregnant with her. It is 1898 and Captain Meador left his pregnant wife to commandeer the USS Maine; the next morning he dies in an explosion that sinks the USS Maine. Unfortunately for Lucretia, it is the middle of Mardi Gras and Lucretia can't get to the hospital through the crowd and she goes into the barber shop, where she gives birth. Above the chair is an Egyptian mural, inspiring Lucretia to name her daughter Cleopatra. Later, Lucretia marries a Key West sailor named Patrick Highbourne, a war hero. He teaches Cleopatra to sail.
