What happens after the amputation that eventually leads Ralston to the helicopter?

Once free, Ralston rappels down Big Drop and refills his water. As focused as possible, he hikes as fast as he can to the trailhead that is eight miles away. On the way, he finds a family that gives him more water and two Oreos. The mother is the fastest, so she runs for medical help. The father and Ralston continue to hike out, meeting another pair. The man stays with them since he has medical knowledge. Around a bend, they see the helicopter close by and the three wave it in.
