Aspen is made up of out-of-towners who can afford winter vacations there and the locals who live there. He describes the locals as the adventurous ones who live to do what they love. Ralston admits the locals can be elitist towards the tourists and the tourists elitist towards the locals, but he understands that both parties are dependent on each other.
