All through winter of 2002-2003, Ralston is climbing the fourteeners of Colorado. A special one of his is the Maroon Bells for its technical climb. One of the more technical and the last of the Elk Range, he climbs it with a euphoric feeling. He is able to peak both the north and south peaks in one go. He reaches it on time to see a glorious sunset and he feels accomplished. He is proud that he climbs the Maroon Bells faster in winter than in summer.
