What does Mugo do at the independence celebration?

When General R. calls for Kihika's traitor to come forward, Mugo walks on stage. Everyone thinks their hero is going to give his speech, but instead Mugo confesses to betraying Kihika and turning him in to the authorities. As everyone acts surprised, Mugo simply walks away.
