Another friend dreamed of being a mother all her life but had grown too old to realize that dream. Another friend's mother had died of complications from brain surgery. It was sad to lose a mother--the only person who would remember your first haircut and your Halloween costume in fifth grade. Kelly desperately wanted to be there for her kids.
