Eddard learns that Gendry was apprenticed to the master armorer at the request of Jon Arryn and Lord Stannis. Mott tells Eddard that an unknown lord paid twice the normal apprentice fee for Gendry and told Mott to remain quiet. Eddard sees that Gendry looks like the king when he was a boy.
