What does Anna learn about her father and his family in Chapter 17?

Anna goes to the place where her father's family lived when he was a boy. She finds his sister, Mary, and her son George at the farm, which is now an artist's community. Anna learns that her father was in trouble and even served time for crimes he committed when he was a teen. Anna learns that everything her father told her about his family was not true.
