How do Anna and Tom help Eve in Chapter 13?

Anna finds Eve stuck in some branches. She tries to get her loose, but does not suceed. Tom arrives, and he reminds her that they are supposed to let nature take its course. Tom gets a saw and carefully cuts her loose. They moisten with a wet towel and let her rest. Then Eve starts moving toward the sea. It takes a while, but she reaches the ocean and swims away.
