What are the similarities between the dreams that Alex and his father have?

Alex dreams about Dim beating him with a whip while Georgie leads them. Alex's father dreams about Alex being beaten in a pool of his own blood by the type of lad that he used to go to school with in his previous corrective school. Both dreams are very similar, though Alex seems to fail to see the resemblance, and meaning, behind them.
