The Others from A Clash of Kings are a group of walking undead creatures that roam north of the wall. They are wights and have been awakened. Long ago they wrecked a terrible war against mankind and they were driven into the wilds where they went to sleep. The Wall, and the Night's Watch were created to keep an eye out for their return.
