The Hound, Clash of Kings, has a real name. His name is Sandor Clegane and is from a noble house. He is now the protector of the King. He was chosen for this task because of his ferocious and frightening face. Half of it was burned when he was a child (caused by his older brother). He 'doggedly' does anything the king asks.
