Stannis Baratheon from A Clash of Kings is the brother of Robert and Renly Baratheon. He has aligned himself with the sorceress, Melisandre, who conjures up shadows to do her evil bidding. She sends one to kill Renly on the eve before his and Stannis' battle. She sends another to end the seige at Storm's End. Stannis has a claim to the throne and claims that he has proof that Joffrey is not Robert's child, but Jaime Lannisters.
