Ser Davos Seaworth from A Clash of Kings is a knight fighting for Stannis Baratheon. Before he was knighted and made the admiral of the fleet, he'd been a pirate. He is called the 'onion' knight because his ship was carrying onions the day that he scored a significant battle. He is missing some fingers on his hand because of his former theiving ways. However, he is a warm and kind man, despite everything. He tries to give Stannis clear and truthful answers as regards strategy. He does not trust Melissandre's hold over him and has personally witnessed the black magic that she has used against Stannis' enemies. In the battle of the blackwater, he is stranded.
