What is the author's tone in A Civil Action by Jonathan Harr?

Upon completion of the work, one is struck not just by the detail and thoroughness of Harr's depiction of the Woburn case, but also his professional objectivity in presenting the events, the individuals involved, and the process of moving from trial preparation, to trial, to settlement negotiations, and to a long and arduous appeals attempt.
