How does J.D. Randall, Karen's father, first attempt to get John Berry to stop working on Art Lee's case?

When J.D. Randall first talks with John Berry, he tries to charm him by praising his abilities as a doctor. He goes on to offer him a coveted position. John is not interested because one of his friends already has that position and he has no interest in displacing him. J.D. then tries to scare and coerce him, but this does not work either.
