A huge metaphor used in the graphic novel is " Then we'll fight in the shade". This line is a metaphor for when the ambassador threatens them with an arrow storm so large it will blot out the sky, the Spartan replies with the above stated metaphor. Eventually they are forced to take cover by the arow storm and laugh it off since they were fighting in the shade.
