The theme of the graphic novel is of Honor and duty. We see this theme brilliantly displayed with Ephialtes. He is deformed and under spartan law he would of been cast out to die at birth. His mother's love saved him and they fled the city. Ephialtes returns to Leonidus in hopes of joing the ranks to redeem his father's honor. when he can not he turns to the evils of Xerxes.
