In the Graphic Novel 300 there is a hunchback man called Ephialtes. he askes Leonidus if he could join the ranks to re-deem his father's name and to tell him about the hidden goat path that could lead to the Spartans being surrounded. Leonidus doesn't need him and tells him no. Ephialtes feels betrayed and humilitaed so he leaves and goes to Xerxes with that information.
