16th century theatres in London?
how did they change
how did they change
It was during the last years of the 16th century that the theatres in London were built. The structures were built to reflect the social hierarchy, as Londoners, called groundlings, had no seats and stood in an open pit in order to watch the play..... the cost, 1 penny. Those with the money to pay an increased fee were afforded seats with luxury cushions and better views.... not so very different from today.
