The chapters You Lacked Nothing and Reflections at the Boundary, "deal with the wilderness experience and the giving of the law in anticipation of receiving the land. In the latter chapter, Brueggemann describes the land as "gift," "temptation," "task," and "threat." These categories bring penetrating analysis and new insight into the meaning of grace and the temptations that such a life presents. Churches that fashion themselves as having left legalism for the freedom of grace need to hear the important lessons that Brueggemann develops."
